Chapter 9

Chapter 9

A beautiful woman is God's gift to humanity. Is there any reason not to admire them? Not to accept them devoutly? To turn a blind eye to beauties is a sheer waste of God's gifts and the greatest disrespect to heaven.

—Ye Wudao's Quotes

Wu Nuanyue ran to the rooftop of the teaching building to cry in secret. Ye Wudao, following behind, watched the girl squatting there, heartbroken, and felt a heavy sense of guilt. He walked over, crouched down, lifted her chin, and showed her his wrist. 'It's not that great to look at,' he said, 'but I really like it, because it was given to me by a girl named Wu Nuanyue!'

Seeing the watch she bought already on his wrist and Ye Wudao coming to find her, Wu Nuanyue broke into a smile through her tears and said, 'You have to wear it every day from now on!' Ye Wudao's heart was stirred, and he pulled the girl with red, swollen eyes from crying into a tight embrace. Wu Nuanyue let out a delicate cry, feeling her whole body go limp in his arms.

Ye Wudao's tongue licked her crystal-clear, tender little earlobe. He tossed his bag to the ground and shifted his hands to hold her slender waist that could be circled by one hand. He found that Nuanyue was indeed plump than Murong Xuehen, with a very fleshy feel to the touch—smooth without being greasy, plump without being fat. Truly, one more ounce would be too heavy, one less ounce too light! Though her breasts were now about the same as Murong Xuehen's, which he had 'developed' over time, Ye Wudao had absolute confidence that he could develop Wu Nuanyue's chest to perfect allure.

After successfully going with the flow to take Wu Nuanyue's first kiss, Ye Wudao thought, 'Which number is this? The thirty-sixth? Or thirty-seventh?' Although Wu Nuanyue's kissing was inexperienced and clumsy, the intoxicating taste in her mouth still left Ye Wudao very satisfied. He calculated whether he might later, during class, use Wu Nuanyue to teach his classmates some 'extracurricular knowledge.'

Naturally unaware of Ye Wudao's lecherous thoughts, Wu Nuanyue was immersed in his tenderness. Suddenly, Ye Wudao slapped her hard on the buttocks. The pain made Wu Nuanyue cry again as she looked at the bad guy who had hit her for no reason with grievance.

'Dare to throw things in front of your man again!' Ye Wudao said fiercely. 'From now on, every time you do something wrong, I'll have to punish you.'

“I understand, I won’t dare to do it again!” Wu Nuanyue hugged Ye Wudao tightly as she cried. The reason she gave in to Ye Wudao was, first, after being subjected to his prolonged tyranny, she had developed a habit of submission; second, Ye Wudao cunningly rubbed her bottom to soothe her; and finally, he told her that he was her husband. A husband beating his wife is only natural—with that reasoning, Wu Nuanyue had no choice but to try and please Ye Wudao.

Spoiling a woman is nothing short of a disaster for a man. But as long as you take the initiative from the start and let a woman enjoy your tenderness within a set limit and scope, that’s where a man’s success lies.

Raising a woman is essentially like keeping a pet. Treat her too well, and she’ll climb right on top of you, making you lose your status as master. Only by balancing kindness and severity can you effectively tame beasts (people).

Wu Nuanyue cheerfully picked up her bag and walked down the rooftop exit with Ye Wudao, whose lips curled into a faint smirk. At the passageway, they brushed past a group of people—six or seven individuals dragging a student who looked barely old enough for elementary school onto the rooftop. The poor guy was tossed several meters away in one go, rolled a few times on the ground, then stood up as if nothing had happened. Two more men came over and started punching and kicking him, each blow landing solidly on his body. He covered his head and waited until the two were tired, then flashed a dry smile.

Catching a glimpse of this scene by chance as he glanced back through the passage, Ye Wudao couldn’t help feeling a touch of admiration for that guy who could take such a beating. Standing at only about one meter fifty, he looked almost like a dwarf, yet he managed to maintain tenacious vitality under a flurry of dense strikes. This piqued Ye Wudao’s curiosity. Pity? Absolutely not—that word couldn’t be found in Ye Wudao’s dictionary! Because showing mercy to an enemy is the greatest harm you can do to yourself, and pitying a friend is not an expression of care, but a veiled form of contempt.

A student with an earring was holding an empty beer bottle in his hand, pointing it at the guy who had been grinning stupidly at him. "I knew you could take a beating, that's why this one was especially prepared for you today!" He raised his hand and smashed the bottle right onto the guy's head. The guy stared blankly at the one who hit him, then dumbly touched his head. Opening his hand to see it was all covered in blood, he actually smiled again.

Wu Nuanyue noticed Ye Wudao standing still without moving, and also looked up at the rooftop. When she saw this extremely violent scene, she screamed in shock and jumped into Ye Wudao's arms. That guy's head was covered in blood! Even seeing such a scene in a movie made her heart pound with fear, let alone seeing it dripping with blood in real life.

"Fuck your mother! You can really fucking take a hit, huh? I don't fucking believe I can't beat you to death!" A guy with a red axe tattooed on his arm jumped up and delivered a three-sixty spinning roundhouse kick, nailing the chin of the guy whose head was still bleeding. His neck twisted from the force, he flew sideways, landed on the ground, and convulsed a few times. The group standing around let out a vicious, triumphant smirk. The guy with the axe tattoo shouted, "I'm the Taekwondo ace of this school! With that kick, the bastard won't be getting up for at least a fucking week! Dare to stare at my bitch, huh? You're just asking to die!"

Ye Wudao tightened his arms around the frightened Wu Nuanyue, thinking to himself that even he probably couldn't withstand a beating of that intensity.

But who would have expected — just when everyone thought it was over — that guy actually stood up like nothing had happened, grinning wide and saying, "Had enough fun beating me for today? I haven't even had lunch yet, you know?"

Those guys clearly hadn't anticipated this kind of shit happening. Every last one of them was freaked out. The tattooed guy flew into a furious rage, ran over and gave him another round of punching and kicking. By the time he was done, panting heavily, the other guy was still standing there like a dumb idiot. Aside from that eye-catching blood on his head telling everyone what had just happened, his face still wore that nothing-matters look.

That group was completely angered and planned to gang up on him. Ye Wudao stepped forward and shouted, "Stop!"

Those people saw someone stepping out to be the scapegoat and immediately stopped, turning back to see what kind of bold character this was. One sharp-faced, scrawny man said sarcastically, "Oh, someone's stepping up to play the hero? What, kid, want to cut in on this?"

Wu Nuanyue was very scared, but still held onto Ye Wudao's arm. He was satisfied with her performance, patted her hand, looked up at the speaker, and said casually, "Nothing much—he's just a friend of mine. Whatever you want to do to him, just tell me, and I'll see if I can handle it."

When he heard someone call him a friend, the man who had been beaten visibly trembled, looking at Ye Wudao, who was holding a beautiful woman, with a mix of gratitude and confusion. Elegant, proud, and calm, as if everything was under his control, the man could even see the contempt, disdain, and insufferable arrogance in the smile of the aristocratic—looking Ye Wudao. In that moment, the image of Ye Wudao was deeply etched into his mind—like an ancient royal prince, high above the rest!

"You're his friend? A guy like him has friends?" Those people laughed as if they had heard the world's funniest joke. Ye Wudao remained as calm as still water, which made it seem like it was he, silent and wordless, who was mocking those laughing maniacs. Wu Nuanyue was mesmerized by the handsome, dangerously charming face so close to hers, wishing she could lean on his shoulder for the rest of her life.

Seeing those thugs' behavior and their grating laughter, the beaten man showed pain in his eyes for the first time. This only strengthened Ye Wudao's resolve to help him, because originally all he had seen in that man's eyes was contempt and hatred. Now that pain made Ye Wudao feel he had an opening to work with!

To win people over, you can give them power or money, but neither is the best approach. The top strategy is to appeal to their emotions, making them willingly let you use them. Since that man cares so much about his friends, I might as well make some emotional investments, Ye Wudao thought to himself.

"Since you're his friend, you can also pay back the ten grand he owes me!" The tattooed guy grinned slyly, his eyes constantly roving over Wu Nuanyue's well-proportioned figure.

"Ten grand?" Ye Wudao said with a headache. All his pocket money for today had been turned in, and he didn't have that much every day, so it was indeed a small hassle. Just as he was about to borrow money from Wu Nuanyue beside him, she had already pulled out a thick stack of bills from her bag and thrown it on the ground. The money included about seven or eight thousand RMB and over a dozen US dollars, definitely exceeding ten grand in total value. As soon as those people saw the money, they immediately scrambled on the ground like mad dogs to grab it.

"Wudao, is that enough? If not, I still have a few cards." Wu Nuanyue frowned, looking at the somewhat surprised Ye Wudao. Ye Wudao pinched her nose, laughing, 'I'll pay you back tomorrow!' Who knew Wu Nuanyue would turn away from him, ignoring him, 'Who asked you to pay back! You treat me like an outsider!'

"Kid, you're lucky today. I'll come find you whenever I feel like having some fun another time!" The tattooed guy turned to look at the man who had been beaten, thinking this kid might actually be a lucky charm, bringing him a decent income. The group walked away satisfied, having beaten enough and made a haul—awesome!

After those people went down, "Nuanyue, let's go." Ye Wudao nodded toward the smiling guy and turned to leave.

That man clearly hadn't expected Ye Wudao to just leave like that. He thought Ye Wudao would take the chance to ask for a favor in return, making him do something, but he left without a word. The man couldn't help but curse himself for having measured the belly of a gentleman with the heart of a petty man. Feeling the warmth in Ye Wudao's eyes and the sincerity of his smile, he experienced for the first time a sense of being respected and treated as a human being. At that moment, he had an unprecedented urge to cry.

"Can I follow you from now on?" that man shouted at Ye Wudao's retreating figure.

"It seems you haven't eaten yet. Eat your fill so you have the strength to get some tools and beat people up," Ye Wudao stopped and said with a hint of a smile. "I don't want one of my boys to get treated like a punching bag every day!"

That man stealthily wiped away the tears he couldn't hold back and laughed: "Unless he has nine lives, he'll definitely hit the ground before me! Boss, my name is Zhang Bushi, everyone calls me Toad!"

Zhang Bushi, a figure who would later shake the entire Chinese underworld, met the 'Godfather' of the Chinese underworld, Ye Wudao, for the first time, and quickly committed himself to this man who had 'bought' him with ten thousand yuan. Later known as the 'Undying Toad,' he became one of the 'Eight Battle Generals' among Ye Wudao's 'Four Heavenly Kings,' 'Four Little Heavenly Kings,' and 'Eight Battle Generals'!

There is no denying that Wu Nuanyue's ten thousand yuan played an immeasurable role. Later on, this ever-grateful Undying Toad loyally followed behind Ye Wudao through life and death, achieving great military exploits. So the so-called 'beauty's favor' is just this kind of thing.
