Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Soldiers can change class to Warrior, Knight, Archer, or Assassin at level 10. I decided to train as a Knight, so I allocated points this way. Even though Knights should add points to Strength and Constitution at a 2:3 ratio, my stats were good, so Constitution was sufficient. Adding to Strength increased my attack power and helped me level up faster.

Get ahead one step, and you'll stay ahead every step of the way—that logic can't be wrong.

Wait, what is this glowing metal stuff?

“Insight”: Iron Ore: Low-grade ore, can be used to craft simple equipment.

Oh, this is exactly the iron ore the Blacksmith Uncle needs. I pulled out my “Pickaxe” and with a few clangs, the iron ore was mine.

Immediately dug toward the iron ore next to another mutated rat.

Damn, ***, how dare you bite my ass.

The mutated rat guards the iron ore; once a player loots its iron ore, it will actively attack.

How dare you bite me? Then I'll take care of you first.

When I had killed over 20 mutated rats, a yellow hammer dropped on the ground, shimmering with a yellow glow—Gold equipment! Gold equipment dropped so quickly. Having high luck really makes a difference. Overjoyed, I quickly picked it up.

Gold Hammer: Gold weapon, effect unknown, quest item, cannot be used. Turns out it's the blacksmith uncle's Gold Hammer. Got my hopes up for nothing.

In a flurry of clanking chops, thanks to fighting monsters above my level, the experience bonus made leveling up fast. After an hour, with my luck at a full 20, I had obtained 10 pieces of level 5 soldier equipment, 8 pieces of mage equipment—half of which were Blue equipment—plus 13 Small Reds (Small Health Potions), 15 Small Blues (Small Mana Potions), 1 gold coin and 60 silver coins, and enough iron ore for the blacksmith uncle.

The drop rate of equipment and coins in 《King》 is extremely low. Although low-level gear in the newbie village is easier to get, I had already looted 18 pieces in no time. Other than a luck-maxed guy like me, I wonder which other player has this ability.

“Ding dong, congratulations! Stone City's level has increased. Now level 5, health +10, mana +10, luck +1, 5 attribute points available for allocation.” the system prompted.

Level 5 already? Fighting above my level is really fast. Looks like I'll stick to this strategy from now on.

3 points into Strength, 2 points into Constitution. Continue with this stat allocation. Equip the level 5 soldier gear.

Soldier's Steel Blade, Blue equipment, requirement: Level 5, Attack 10, Bonus: Strength 5, Attack 10, Critical Hit 2%.

Soldier's Tunic, Blue equipment, requirement: Level 5, Defense 10, Bonus: Constitution 5.

Soldier Pants: Blue equipment, Level Req: 5. Defense 10, Bonus: Constitution +5.

Soldier Boots: Blue equipment, Level Req: 5, Defense 10, Bonus: Agility +5.

Equipped new weapons and gear. Speechless, this growth is absolutely undeniable. Since I've switched to new gear and finished the blacksmith's quest, it's time to head somewhere else, fight some new monsters, and test the power of the new equipment.

Now that I have health pots and mana pots, I feel confident, even when facing high-level monsters, I can put up a fight.

Small Health Potion: Recovers 20 HP per second, lasts 10 seconds.

Small Mana Potion: Recovers 20 MP per second, lasts 10 seconds.

Continuing along the path, I climbed a small slope in search of higher-level monsters, only to see three demonic rabbits roaming around.

No way, why are there demonic rabbits here? Wait, these three rabbits are different from the demonic ones—aside from being bigger, the one in the middle is completely white and fluffy, even cuter and chubbier.

“BOSS! It’s a BOSS, we’re rich, what great luck.” Anyone who doesn’t attack a BOSS when they see one is an idiot. Many BOSSes appear randomly at irregular times and places, so besides strength, luck is also needed to take them down.

“Inspect.”

Dudu Rabbit: Lv 10 BOSS, 1000 HP, Skill: Carrot Attack, girlfriend of the Golden Rabbit King, likes strolling through the grasslands.

Rabbit Guard: Lv 8, 800 HP, protects the girlfriend of the Golden Rabbit King.

Geez, girlfriend, boyfriend, likes strolling—whatever, whether you’re the Golden Rabbit King’s girlfriend or boyfriend, I’ll kill you all the same. It’s your fault for being a monster, and a demonic one corrupted by the Heavenly Demon at that.

I don’t know their attack and defense stats, so I dare not charge in recklessly. I’ll just wait for an opportunity and strike when I’m sure. If only I had a Knight’s “Taunt” skill—I could lure them one by one and kill them slowly.

“Charge!”

Spotting one Rabbit Guard lagging behind, I rushed over and swung my “Slash” without holding back.

Now that I’ve got Little Blue, I can use skills without worry—why not make the most of it.

−80, −100, −90—a series of damage numbers rose above the Rabbit Guard’s head.

Ouch, I took a hit—−30 appeared over my head. It’s manageable, after all, this is just a Lv 1 monster BOSS, not that strong, and my stats are a bit overpowered, so I can take it on solo.

The other Rabbit Guard saw me attacking and immediately came to help. Dudu Rabbit ignored our fight, probably thinking its guards were strong enough to handle this intruder and it didn’t need to get involved.

Without Dudu Rabbit's help, I was naturally unafraid. It only cost me over 200 HP to take down the two rabbit guards. I picked up the dropped equipment, drank a small red potion, waited for my health to recover, and then charged at Dudu Rabbit.

Dudu Rabbit is just the golden rabbit king's girlfriend, not very strong. My attacks deal a steady 100 damage, but Dudu Rabbit's attacks are somewhat higher, usually 40 damage. Especially its skill 'Radish Attack'—a giant radish suddenly appears in the sky and smashes down on me, dealing 100 damage.

Luckily, Dudu Rabbit moves gracefully, always mindful of its appearance, so its attack frequency isn't high. By the time it hit me three times, this madman with gleaming eyes as if seeing top-tier equipment had already landed six hits on it.

My HP dropped to 200. I drank a small red potion and kept attacking. Hah, sure, it's my first time playing 'King,' but when it comes to online games, I'm an old hand—no slacking on technique.

'Stun!!' Luck was on my side—Dudu Rabbit got stunned, with circles of stars spinning above its head, standing dumb and motionless. I wasn't polite—-200, -200, haha, critical hit! Dudu Rabbit's HP plummeted. With swish swish two more slashes, Dudu Rabbit fell to the ground dead, dropping two items.

'Ding dong, congratulations to Stone City for leveling up. Now level 6, HP increased by 10, MP increased by 10, 5 attribute points to allocate.'

'Congratulations to Stone City for killing the BOSS Dudu Rabbit. Reputation increased by 10.'

'Player Stone City is the first to kill a BOSS in 'King.' Reward: 100 reputation, reward: 10 gold coins.'

Haha, not bad. The early bird catches the worm—the farmer's wisdom never fails. I picked up the items dropped by Dudu Rabbit.

The two rabbit guards dropped 4 pieces of equipment and 1 gold coin. Besides 2 pieces of level 5 equipment, there were actually 2 rings, and they were blue-tier gear.

Big Rabbit Tooth Ring: Blue equipment, required, level 5, agility 5, additional: defense 5. Not bad, equip it.

Dudu Rabbit is way too stingy, besides 2 gold coins, only 2 pieces of equipment, but when I saw this piece, I instantly beamed with joy—one piece turned out to be a red ghost item.

Dudu Rabbit's Mask: Red ghost equipment, effects unknown, cannot be applied.

Items are divided into white equipment, blue equipment, yellow equipment, green sets, red ghost equipment, and then purple divine equipment.

White equipment is the most basic gear, only with basic stats. Blue equipment is one tier above white, adding 3–4 additional stats on top of white stats. Yellow equipment is even higher than blue, featuring 3–8 additional stats and superior base attributes.

Green sets, red ghost equipment, and purple divine equipment go without saying—they're naturally better than yellow gear, absolute top-tier stuff, though harder to obtain. Most players are lucky enough to have yellow equipment.

Weapons above yellow equipment can emit matching colors, showcasing the gear's rank and traits; of course, players can also hide the equipment's color.

Equipment above yellow grade requires appraisal to reveal its stats; it cannot be used without appraisal.

I turned Dudu Rabbit's Mask over in my hands a few times, guessing it's something good. I really want to head back to the village for appraisal, but the Apothecary Uncle's task isn't done yet—going back would waste time, not worth it.

Looking at the other item, it turned out to be a treasure map.

Rabbit Trail: Treasure map, effect unknown, cannot be applied.

Haha, a treasure map, I love it! There's bound to be something good in it. Looks like I'll need an appraisal to use it.

I packed up my stuff and moved on, spotting a pack of mountain wolves roaming the plains.

“Insight.” Mutated Mountain Wolf: Level 8, 300 HP, Guards Hemostatic Herb.

The Apothecary Uncle's task is set up just like the Blacksmith Uncle's, only the monsters are different—such a dizzy mess.

Mutated Mountain Wolf, you're the one I'm looking for. How dare you steal Apothecary Uncle's beloved golden medicine cauldron! Take this!

Killing Dududu Rabbit leveled me up, and I equipped two Big Rabbit Tooth Rings, further boosting my abilities. So at level 5, taking on a level 8 Corrupted Mountain Wolf was no challenge.
