Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Let's get into the game quickly. After all this time spent rolling such overpowered stats, I didn't even get a hidden class as a reward. Seems like hidden classes are really hard to get, or maybe you need to trigger a quest. I still need to work hard.

“Enter game.” I yelled out loud. King, here I come!!

“Welcome, player Stone City, to Newbie Village No.3256. You can only leave after reaching level 10 and choosing a city for your first class advancement. Hope you enjoy your journey.” With a flash and a system notification, I arrived in the newbie village.

“Ah, there are so many people.” The newbie village was packed with bustling crowds, a sea of people, noisy and lively. King is really popular.

I turned my head to look around. All the newbie players were wearing the same thin outfit. Good thing the system gave me a set of clothes—if not, I would've been exposed. I checked my equipment and there was also a knife, so I equipped it.

Newbie Wooden Knife, White Equipment, Requirement: None, Attack: 5.

Newbie Vest, White Equipment, Requirement: None, Defense: 5.

Newbie Pants, White Equipment, Requirement: None, Defense: 5.

Attack and Defense immediately changed. Attack: 45, Defense: 50.

Not rushing to fight monsters yet, I'll look for quests first. Doing quests definitely brings lots of benefits—that's my motto for gaming.

"Grandpa Village Chief, I'm here. Is there anything you need help with?" Since the "Flying Apsaras" mainframe controlling "King of Glory" has some intelligence, and all NPCs have thinking abilities, I was very polite.

"The Holy Light of the Tianmeng Continent, which has been peaceful for three thousand years, is fading. Demons are reviving, and the Celestial Demons are awakening. A storm of blood and slaughter is about to arrive. The Tianmeng Continent will face a great crisis. If the Celestial Demons cannot be stopped, resealed, or killed, humanity will surely be destroyed. Stone City! Are you willing to walk the path of a warrior for the fate of humanity and your own glory, seek the legendary power, inherit the mission bestowed by the Goddess of Tianmeng, fight to the death against the Celestial Demons, and become a hero of humanity?" The village chief said deeply. With his wise gaze, it was quite convincing.

"No way, getting all deep like this. I play games to relax, and I'm using the money exchange feature to earn some money to support my little sister and me. Don't put pressure on me," I thought to myself. Still, I said, "Chief, I'm willing."

"May the Goddess of Tianmeng be with you. The village is surrounded by corrupted demonic creatures. I hope you can eliminate them, train your abilities, and step onto the path of a warrior."

"Stone City, the village chief entrusts you with killing 20 demonized tigers and obtaining 20 tiger tails. Do you accept?" the system prompted.

"Accept."

"Stone City, I'm glad you have such hot blood and passion. But that alone is not enough. Your abilities are still not strong enough. First, train yourself by fighting the weak demonic creatures at the village gate. Make yourself stronger, then go eliminate the demonized tigers."

"Got it." I ran toward the blacksmith uncle's weapon shop.

"Blacksmith Uncle, I'm here! Is there anything you need help with?"

"It's you, Stone City. Those cursed demonized mice stole my golden hammer. Can you help me get it back?" The blacksmith uncle wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"Of course, no problem, Blacksmith Uncle. You can count on me."

“Many warriors have come to the village these past few days, and my ores are running a bit low. Could you help me gather some ores on your way?”

“No problem.”

“Stone City accepts the blacksmith’s commission, learns “Mining Skill”, receives the “Iron Pickaxe” gifted by the blacksmith, and needs to mine 10 pieces of iron ore.”

Iron Pickaxe, requirements: none, used for mining.

“Uncle Apothecary, I’m here! Anything you need my help with?” After finishing the blacksmith’s quest, I went to the apothecary’s shop.

“Oh, it’s Stone City! I went herb-gathering yesterday, and demonized mountain wolves stole my golden medicine cauldron. Can you help me get it back?” Uncle Apothecary said with a smile.

“Of course, no problem, Uncle Apothecary. You can count on me.”

“Many warriors have come to the village these past few days, and my herbs are running a bit low. Could you help me gather some herbs on your way?”

“No problem.” Since Uncle Apothecary and the blacksmith used the same words, I won’t change my tone either.

“Stone City accepts the apothecary’s commission, learns “Herb Gathering Skill”, receives the “Herb Trowel” gifted by the apothecary, and needs to gather 10 blood hemostatic herbs.”

Herb Trowel, requirements: none, used for herb gathering.

I walked all over this newbie village, and there were only these three NPCs. I really wonder how these old bachelors get by. Take a look at the quests I accepted:

“The Village Chief’s Commission: Normal Quest, Intermediate Level, kill 20 demonized tigers and collect tiger tails as proof.”

“The Blacksmith’s Gold Hammer: Normal Quest, Low Level, obtain the gold hammer, mine 10 iron ores.”

“The Apothecary’s Golden Cauldron: Normal Quest, Low Level, obtain the golden cauldron, gather 10 blood hemostatic herbs.”

Quests are divided into normal quests, hidden quests, unique quests, unique hidden quests, and so on. According to the official website, there are all kinds of strange quests, and players need to discover them because the quest rewards are absolutely generous.”

"What a cheapskate, not even giving me a good immortal or divine weapon, or even a hidden quest. It's a pity my 20 luck didn't get me any extra benefits, how annoying." I complained as I walked out of the village.

Quests done, time to level up. Since it's a game, there's no choice.

The village entrance is a bloodbath. A bunch of players, eyes wide open, seize the moment to swarm as soon as they spot a rabbit. The poor rabbits don't even get to see the wonderful world before they're torn apart.

I cast 'Insight' on a magic rabbit, level 1, 100 HP, loves big carrots.

Players can only see the monster's name, not how much health it has. You have to estimate HP by damaging it. But when I use 'Insight', not only do I see a number, but a red health bar appears too, and I know everything about the monster.

'Insight' is really something! Makes me appreciate it! If you know yourself and your enemy, killing monsters is no problem, and leveling up is a breeze.

Damn, that's brutal! Even though it's a corrupted rabbit, going from good to evil, it's still so cute with its fluffy fur and clever big eyes. How can they bring themselves to do it! I grumbled.

Sour grapes, I guess. With so many people, there's no chance for me to join in, so I have to give up on the magic rabbits and slowly head to the outskirts.

Beyond the magic rabbit territory, I see a group of hedgehogs only a few players are taking on solo, looking all chaotic and messy. It takes a team of four or five players to handle them. Looks like hedgehogs are tougher.

I use 'Insight'—a magic hedgehog, level 3, 150 HP, can reflect attacks.

One slash deals -80 damage to the hedgehog. Two quick swings, and it turns into my experience. The stats are insane. It's even easier than a level 1 player killing a level 1 magic rabbit.

Good thing everyone was buried in their work, all rushing to level up, so no one noticed how pervy I was being. Otherwise, someone would definitely have complained.

The level 3 demonic hedgehogs couldn't satisfy my attack power anymore. I moved forward, leaving the hedgehog territory, rounding a hill where the crowds had already disappeared, and saw a group of tiger-sized rats with gray fur and fiery red eyes roaming around, guarding some glowing metal.

I used “Insight”: Demonic Rat, level 5, 200 HP, guarding iron ore.

Demonic rat, you're the one I'm looking for. How dare you steal the Blacksmith Uncle's beloved golden hammer? Take this! I charged at it.

One slash, and -50 appeared above the demonic rat’s head. It swiped back at me, and -10 appeared above my head. Not bad. A level 5 demonic rat was no threat to a level 1 me.

-100, -100. “Ding dong, congratulations to Stone City for leveling up. Now level 1, health increased by 10, magic increased by 10, 5 attribute points available to distribute.” My luck was incredible, critical hits actually landed twice in a row. This demonic rat was also pretty unlucky; it took two crits and died a swift death, and I leveled up too.

I opened the status bar and added the 5 attribute points to Strength and Constitution at a 3:2 ratio.
