Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Wei Yong said in a deep voice, “Let’s hurry up.” A dozen people quickly walked out of the office building.

Liu Shijie followed behind with a dark face—looks like this guy had no friends to speak of around here.

Wang Tong couldn't break free from his embrace and eventually stopped struggling, letting him hold her. Her face was like ice—no one had ever treated her like this in her entire life.

Yang Luo put his arm around Wang Tong as they got into the car, grinning and saying, "Still mad?" Wang Tong kept her face cold and said nothing.

Felt embarrassed by the cold reception, Yang Luo rubbed his nose and said, "I did it to make Liu Shijie give up, so he'd stop bothering you." Wang Tong still remained silent.

As soon as Tan Long got in the car, he sensed the tense atmosphere. He shrank back, wanting to get out, but Wang Tong said coldly, "Tyrannosaurus, drive."

Tan Long's face fell and he sat there obediently. "Miss! It was that punk Yang Luo who made you angry—nothing to do with me."

"Less talking! Drive."

Tan Long started the engine, turned on the siren, and followed the car ahead toward Haiyi Villa District. He didn't say a word the whole way, afraid of getting caught in the crossfire.

Wang Tong kept a cold face the entire time, and Yang Luo said nothing either. About ten minutes later, the car stopped at Haiyi Villa District. It was a three-story villa already cordoned off by the police station officers, with yellow tape up and crowds of onlookers gathered outside.

Wei Yong got out of the car and said, "Director Li, what's the situation? Found anything?"

Director Li was a man in his fifties. "Old Wei! The victim is female, named Qu Fengxia, thirty-two years old, single. She was killed by a sharp weapon that severed the carotid artery. There's a bloody handprint on the wall—I think the killer was too flustered after the murder and accidentally left it behind."

Wei Yong walked toward the villa while asking, "Anything else?"

"The crime scene is completely ransacked. I suspect it's robbery and murder."

Walking into the hall, Director Li said, "The victim is on the second floor."

A dozen people went up to the second floor and arrived at the crime scene. The deceased was lying on the bed in her pajamas, covered in blood, and the entire room had been ransacked. On the wall beside the deceased's bed, there was a handprint, with all five fingerprints clearly visible.

"Has the coroner arrived yet?" Wei Yong carefully inspected the scene.

"Not yet, but I reckon they'll be here soon," Chief Li replied.

"Who discovered the body and called the police?"

"It was the deceased's neighbor. They both go jogging every morning. Today, when the neighbor came to find her, she rang the doorbell for a long time but no one answered, so she figured she wasn't home and left. It wasn't until 1 PM that the neighbor felt something was wrong, because they never miss their run, rain or shine, and even if something came up, she would have called. When she came back and still couldn't get an answer, she called the police."

Yang Luo walked over to the deceased and sighed, "Died so young and this pretty... a beauty's fate is indeed cruel."

"Hmph!" For some reason, Wang Tong got angry whenever Yang Luo opened his mouth.

Tan Long chuckled and walked over to Yang Luo, whispering, "You're pretty bold, you little rascal."

Yang Luo said, "With senior sister around, I'm not scared."

Tan Long curled his lip, "Come on! The moment I saw you, I knew you were no good."

Yang Luo grinned, "I'll tell you, brother, since I was a kid I dreamed of being a professional thug, bedding all the beauties under heaven."

"And how many have you bagged so far, you punk?"

Yang Luo said without thinking, "At least eighty, if not a hundred, and most of them were foreign chicks."

Tan Long rolled his eyes, "Just keep bluffing—it won't kill you."
