Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Everyone in the office lobby looked up. “A new guy’s here. Stick with me from now on.” The speaker was a man in his early thirties, nearly 1.9 meters tall, with muscles rippling all over—a modern-day dinosaur.

“Sure!” Wei Yong said. “Yang Luo! This is Tan Long. We all call him T-Rex. He’ll take you under his wing.” Then he pointed around one by one. “This is Xiao Liu, this is Xiao Zhao... and this police babe here is Wang Tong, the number one beauty in our Shanghai police department.”

Yang Luo’s eyes lit up. She really was beautiful—around twenty-one or twenty-two, with shoulder-length hair and flawless features. Especially in her police uniform, her curvaceous figure could easily let the imagination run wild.

Yang Luo grinned and reached out his hand. “Hello! I’m Yang Luo. Hope you’ll look out for me, Senior Sister.”

Wang Tong looked at Yang Luo's not-so-handsome face and noticed a hint of mischief in his smile, but it carried a strange charm. It fit the saying: men who are bad are what women crave.

For Wang Tong, her suitors could line up for miles—all of them sanctimonious and impeccably dressed. Now meeting Yang Luo with that roguish smirk and slightly rascally demeanor, she felt quite drawn to him.

“Hello! We’re colleagues from now on, so we can look out for each other,” Wang Tong said with a smile.

Yang Luo squeezed her slender, delicate hand. Wang Tong blushed slightly and pulled her hand away. If anyone else had done that, she would have been furious, but for some reason, facing Yang Luo, she couldn’t muster any anger.

Wei Yong seemed to catch on and chuckled. “Yang Luo, Wang Tong’s got enough suitors to form a division. You’d better step up your game, kid.”

Wang Tong shot him a glare. “Captain Wei! Are you asking for me to have a little chat with the wife tonight?”

Wei Yong quickly said, “Yang Luo, your desk is over there. I’ve got some paperwork to handle.” With that, he hurried back to his office.

"Hahaha..." A burst of laughter rang out from the office hall.

Yang Luo turned to look at Wei Yong's office and muttered, "So this guy is a henpecked husband. I'll have to visit him sometime, just to make sure this bastard doesn't make trouble for me behind the scenes."

Wang Tong helped Yang Luo tidy up his desk and said with a smile, "Alright! You can sit down and work now, but without any cases, there's not much to do in the criminal police team."

Yang Luo sat down on the chair and said with enjoyment, "This chair is quite comfortable to sit on."

At that moment, the entire office was dumbfounded, especially the men, who looked at Yang Luo with envy. Usually, Wang Tong wouldn't even bother to look at them, but today she was cleaning up this guy's desk and chatting with him with a smile. No matter how you looked at him, this guy wasn't handsome—it really was unjust.

Wang Tong smiled and said, "Someday you'll get tired of sitting on it." She then walked back to her own desk.

Just then, Wei Yong came out again and said, "A homicide has occurred in the Haiyi Villa complex. Dispatch immediately."

More than a dozen people in the office quickly stood up and ran out. Tan Long waved at Yang Luo and said, "Today, let me show you how I, Detective Tan, solve cases."

Wang Tong said, "Yang Luo, don't listen to him. Seeing a dead person for the first time can be unsettling. Don't go inside; just wait outside."

Yang Luo said seriously, "Senior Sister, let me follow you. As long as you're here, I won't be afraid." This guy was seizing the opportunity to get closer.
